San Rafael, Marin County
The Marin County Civic Center in San Rafael was the last major commission of architect Frank Lloyd Wright, who died before construction began. Its long, arched wings stretch between three hills under a pale blue roof, topped by a gold spire. The first section opened in 1962, and the building is a National Historic Landmark as well as a working seat of county government.
